History of Bangs Ambulance...
Bangs Ambulance, Inc. is a family owned business, started in October of 1945. During this era of E.M.S., funeral homes across the country would routinely use their hearses as a means of transporting sick and injured people while lying down. This emphasis was primarily on transportation only, and very little patient care. This is certainly in the era of "Load and Go"! Bangs Funeral Home happened to be one of the many funeral homes expanding their services as such.
John & Rita Bangs owned and operated this funeral home. Rita also happened to be a nurse, which was very fortunate for the people of the area! She felt that there could be a way to better care for the sick and injured people in her community, rather than just swiftly driving to the hospital. Thus, the creation of Bangs Ambulance. This care started with basic first aid skills, which over the years has progressed to an advanced life support paramedic staffed service.
Today, the Bangs Funeral Home & Bangs Ambulance are two separate businesses with no correlation between them. Needless to say, several people who are not familiar with this story often give us funny looks when they have heard of the funeral home.
